Hospital
Apart from smaller health centres, Afghanistanhilfe manages a proper hospital in Jahori – one of the oldest, largest and most important projects of the relief organisation. The hospital opened in 1994 after long years of construction – the Taliban had substantially disrupted the construction several times by destroying and looting the site.
The hospital has – amongst other – a maternity ward, x-ray and operating equipment and facilities, a blood bank, laboratory as well as an intensive care unit. The hospital also has an ambulance.
The hospital has 50 employees carrying out more than 70,000 consultations and/or treatments per year. Due to refinancing opportunities, Afghanistanhilfe only pays the personnel costs of the hospital. The remaining operational costs are covered by income from refinancing. However, about US$ 230,000 are still required annually.
GIVE HOPE
Almost half of all the children in Afghanistan, about 3.7 million, do not go to school. 60% of these are girls. We stand up for them – with your help.
